The STIL is short for 'The Small Things In Life' - and it's been the name of my dream shop back before I was old enough to operate any kind of business transaction legally. In my dream, I've opened a cosy bookshop; a little florist and coffee shop (I don't have a green thumb, but I love a good coffee!); and a pretty gifts and homewares shop. And today, here I am, finally with an actual shop (for real life, as my daughter would say), creating with my own hands, loving it, and humbly sharing it with the world!
I discovered macrame when I was at a low point in life (caring full time for a 1.5 years old and navigating through the after-effects of a miscarriage with little sleep and a whole load of emotions). As my hands got busy with the knotting, the noises in my head turned quiet, and I was able to process my thoughts and feelings with more clarity and courage than before. Having beautiful pieces of fibre art to show off was a great bonus, and I've not stopped creating since!
I believe in creating joy and sharing stories through my work. Every piece I make holds a bit of me and my story in them; I also want to weave your stories and memories into beautiful pieces that will give you lots of joy when you hang them up in your homes and spaces - pieces that celebrate a milestone, an anniversary, a piece in your favourite colour, or even a macrame coaster that shares your coffee morning.
I started teaching macrame workshops in 2021, and it's so wonderful to have the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals through the art. I conduct both private and public workshops, and you're more than welcome to join me at my next one.
